Last year, I found many dead cicadas on our beach. I felt that I had to preserve the fragile beauty of the delicate wings. I collected hundreds of their little wings.

Inspired by the summer nights here I created this design featuring a Cicada under a moon, surrounded by stars and the soft pink sky of sunset.

The wings of the cicada hold 33 cicada wings, pressed between two pieces of glass. The top sheet of glass has a subtle wavey texture and has an iridescent soft green and pink shine, creating a little bit of extra magic.

The moon is created with a vintage textured patterned glass named Cosmos  and the stars are made with vintage Morisco glass.

The Cicada had decorative solder details around the wings and is highlighted in copper patina, the surrounds has black patina to create a contrast with the copper.

The back of the Cicada has a detailed pattern that is handpainted.
