Sea the light! This gorgeous Nautilus stained glass suncatcher, nestled among red sea plants, will illuminate your space with underwater magic
Inspired by my love of beach walking and beachcombing. Sometimes after stormy weather I am lucky to find parts of this beautiful shell. This intrigued me to look up what creature lives within it.
*The nautilus is the only cephalopod with an external shell. Its shell is coiled, pearly, and divided into many chambers.
*The nautilus controls its buoyancy by pumping water in and out of its shell chambers.
*The nautilus's tentacles have no suckers or hooks, but instead use a sticky secretion to catch prey.
*The nautilus can live to be over 20 years old.
*As the nautilus grows, it adds new chambers to its shell, which are connected to the old ones by a tube.
The shell is made with beautiful opaque glass that glows up in the sunshine, framed with a background of transparant turquoise blue and red glass.
The spots on the "door" of the Nautilus , that they use to seal off the opening, are handpainted.
